David Crossland, font designer and co-founder of Fontforge came to give an an introduction in type design.
Before we could start on the software David gave us a small exercise where we had to create quick fonts using a only a pencil and paper. His aim was to help us understand the details that go into designing typeface.

He helped us realize size and spacing that go to type desigining.
